Thanks to the advance of new technologies\ud83d\udcf2 we can get to know the different cultures, customs and, of course, the gastronomy\ud83c\udf74 of other countries \ud83c\udf0e with a simple click.<\/p>

Although for the Western world the beginning of the new year took place on 1 January\ud83d\uddd3; according to the Chinese lunar calendar \ud83c\udde8 this celebration took place on 12 February, starting what for the Chinese is the year 4719. Thus, each year is represented by an animal of the Chinese horoscope; 2020 was the year of the Rat \ud83d\udc00 , which leaves to give way to the year of the Ox \ud83d\udc02 characterised by its order, effort and discipline.<\/p>

The expected entrance of the Ox is welcomed by the Chinese with homes decorated with red objects and doors lit by lanterns\ud83c\udfee. In addition, children receive red envelopes with money\ud83e\udde7, fireworks are set off \ud83c\udf87 and gifts are exchanged. Of course there is also eating, which is our main point of interest as good foodies \ud83d\ude0b.<\/p>

This dessert of sweet rice dumplings \ud83c\udf5a which are prepared boiled and have a rubbery texture are served in a bowl of hot and sweet soup \ud83c\udf6d. They are traditionally filled with black sesame paste, red beans, dates or peanuts \ud83e\udd5c. There are also other varieties that are not desserts and are usually filled with a mixture of meat and vegetables. Unfortunately this dish is available in very few Chinese restaurants as it does not suit all tastes.
