The Amadorio reservoir is a dam located between the town of Villajoyosa and Orcheta in Alicante.
A nature reserve with blue-green waters and a recreational area, ideal for hiking or cycling.
The Amadorio reservoir at Villajoyosa is located about 5 kilometres from the village and is considered the closest reservoir to the sea in the whole peninsula.
It belongs to the Júcar river basin and has a dam height of 63 metres. There is a parking area where you can comfortably park your car and a relaxation area with tables and wooden benches where you can have dinner or an aperitif in the shade of the pine trees.
If you want to enjoy the mountains and beaches of Villajoyosa and take a few days off with your family, you can find many possibilities and places on our website.
The route starts on the road, which is closed to traffic, through the walls of the Amadorio reservoir. Leave the picnic area and walk along the road towards the dam. There you will see a tunnel with a fence blocking the traffic and an opening on one side of the fence for walking. Through this tunnel we access the pedestrian bridge.
A little further on there is a "no trespassing" fence. From here on, road traffic is allowed, although the occasional car passes, there is a possibility that there will be no traffic.
The flow of the Amadorio reservoir varies greatly depending on the time of year, normally very low in summer and quite high in winter and early spring.
