Things to see and do in Altea and its Old Town
Previously we were talking about what to see in BenidormBenidorm, the Spanish New York but, around Benidorm, there are also wonderful places.
In this case we are going to give you a small guide about what to see in Alteaa very pretty village in the Marina Baixa on the Costa Blanca (Alicante province) that will surprise you.
Places to visit in Altea
Altea Old Town
The old town of Altea is a very romantic place to enjoy as a couple and very quiet and beautiful to enjoy walking with the family.
In the old town of Altea you will find bars and restaurants, craft shops, small local shops and "secret" alleys, it is a paradise turned into a village with whitewashed houses and cobbled streets.
A evening evening in a restaurant in the area is an idea sensational.
Port of Altea
There are three marinas located in Altea: the Campomanes Marina, the marina of the Club Náutico de Altea and the marina called Porto Senso. And the town also has a fishing port.
If you are planning to go sailing or do some water sports in Altea, or if you prefer to simply stroll through the streets of the town, you will find a wide range of restaurants and accommodation. If you like the sea, here are some of the water activities you can do in Altea.
Beaches of Altea
La Barreta de Gualda
Located opposite the marina of Luis Campomanes and visited mostly by local residents.
It is very quiet and does not have much tourism.
It also has many restaurants and bars to visit in Altea.
La Roda Beach
One of Altea's Blue Flag beaches and it is the most visited beach in Altea.
It has parks around where you can playing with children and volleyball net.
The best thing to do on a summer's day is to spend the morning enjoying the sun and the family and then walk up to the old town of Altea to have lunch in a good restaurant.
Alternatively, continue along the promenade, which also offers many opportunities for a good meal or a cool drink.
La Olla Beach
This gravel beach is the ideal place for spending a weekend with the family.
It is located just in front of a small island called "L'olleta". where you can go swimming, kayaking or paddle surfing.
Once there, you can dive and see the whole of the marine fauna of the place.
Cap Negret Beach
This beach stretches from the mouth of the famous river Algar to the cove of Soio, 2 kilometres long.
It has beach bars so you can cool off on a hot summer's day.
You can also visit the hotel Cap Negret, best value for money accommodation in this town.
Soio or Solsida Cove
It is a small cove that is difficult to access but recommended for have fun diving with your friends or family.
If you want to spend a morning there, the best thing to do is to take the following with you chairs or hammocksThe rocks on the site are not very comfortable.
It is also possible to rent kayaks.
Escollera Beach
The last beach added to Altea where there used to be a puddle with birds and cats.
It has now been renovated and next to the promenade it gives a much nicer and cleaner image.
Dog beach
One of the beaches in Altea where you can go with your pet.
In 2016 the town hall of Altea gave the permission to access the beach with our most faithful friends.
The beach is located in la Olla, between the hotel Villa Gadea and the sea and mountain port.
Although there are some rules to remember:
- Keep your pet under control.
- Do not disturb other users.
- Collecting excreta
- Have your pet's microchip.
- To be up to date with vaccinations, to carry the vaccination record.
- If it is included in the PPP list (dangerous dogs of prey) it must be kept on a leash and muzzled.
If you comply with the regulations, please do not hesitate to have a good time with your pet.
